Give Your Child a Sewing Skill for Life.

Southpointe Sewing Club gives children the chance to learn sewing skills at school alongside their classmates in a fun, welcoming environment. In a relaxed and supportive setting, children can gradually develop sewing skills they can enjoy and benefit from for a lifetime.

Learning Goals

Students, especially those in Grades 2–3, will learn to complete a simple hand-sewn project independently. As their skills develop, they’ll be introduced to the sewing machine and learn to combine hand and machine sewing to create simple 3D items, hair accessories, and bags. etc.

Each term, students aim to complete 2–3 projects, depending on the term length, while building practical skills, patience, and confidence through hands-on practice.

Class Size & Enrollment: A minimum of 6 students is required for the club to run. Enrollment is limited to 12 students.

What Will Students Learn?

Hand Sewing: Learn how to thread a needle, tie a knot, sew a basic running stitch, and attach buttons and decorative elements.

Machine Sewing: Learn to control sewing speed and independently sew straight and curved lines accurately as needed.

Fabric & Tools: Become familiar with different fabrics and sewing tools.

Patience & Focus: Build patience and concentration by working stitch by stitch and completing a project one step at a time.

Projects are designed to give students opportunities to learn practical skills through hands-on experience.
